dude. He's obsessed with this woman who dumped him, and is insanely jealous. Look at it from his perspective- he gave up everything for her, and she ditched him for someone else. Not saying that makes it right- what I am saying is that the last thing he's thinking about is the law.

love the movie! But why in the hell would she tell him to kill her. Wether i think he was gonna kill me or not i wouldnt temp him and tell him to do it...cuz it would end up just like she did...dead!

technically he was a bit possessive of her, a little too much and thats a turn off for any woman. coem on he virtually told her that she if she left him he'd find her... how stalkerish is that. when she got the nine of spades she realised like you said that as her days were numbered she might as well live it up, but i have a feeling she would have let joe go either way as he was WAY too obsessive.
