heres the truth lol, all e71s do lose signal like he said there a great phone but the attena needs to be boosted about 80% so there if you smart you make your own attena. and another problem with the e71 is if you let your phone sit there it probably gets 3g like there suppose to but if yah pike it up 0 signal! pisses me off

my nokia e71 has no such problem. But my phone got wifi problems. When i am looking at videos on youtube, after a few minutes it came back to the choosing of networks. I need some help with this problem. Is it because i had installed a software that has virus that cause this problem.. Or it became crazy with nothing that happened. Please anyone reply to this msg.. please.. :)

There might be a alien probe in your hand , my nokia e71 gets really good reception everywhere I go except one little spot in alabama but in Tn & Ms & Ark i havnt ever had my bars go down all the way no matter how I hold it.

You are right !! I have exactly the same issue ! I have a E71x which I got unlocked in India and they also updated the firmware (which opened some additional options like switching the 3g off).
Also, I understand you bought the microcell to increase the signal strength. I had the same problem, I could hardly talk inside my home. I found a solution: turn the 3g off. The 3g network is much sparse as compared to the 2g network. Now my reception is pretty good. Btw I bought the phone in Aug 2009.

thats happens to me aswell. idk how to fix.....
I just got the E71 and it does the same thing! It's so annoying that I have to put it on speaker and set it down sometimes just to make/receive calls. What's the fix?

@ts6034 There is no "fix." The antenna is on the bottom of the phone, so you simply have to avoid touching the bottom while you're using the phone. That has worked well for me.

mate, I just bought this phone. Im waiting for it to arrive. I love the background you have on. Is that one you downloaded?

@acquiesce100 No, that's one of the Nokia defaults. Yours should come with it, too.

@SmackMule - Hi - My phone arrived but its not on the default. Can you tell me the name of it?

@acquiesce100 Sure. It's definitely not obvious. Go to Menu, Modes, Theme, then choose "Black Personal." It's sort of confusing setting these phones up properly. Personally, I like using "Active Mode" versus "Simple Mode," allowing me to customize, and switch between, two modes -- one for personal and one for work (or whatever). Each mode allows you to totally configure ring tones, wallpaper, apps, etc. Go to Menu, Settings, General, Personalization, then set "Home Screen" to "Active." Good luck
