Cooperating for safer streets

With fresh hope of a peace deal between Israelis and Palestinians comes a rare meeting between police officers from the two sides - to discuss road safety.

The seminar was an opportunity for the Palestinian police force to learn about new techniques in keeping the highways safer.

They also assessed radars, cameras and other equipment available on the market.

The Palestinians are lacking many of these tools but hope to get funding from the EU to bolster their work.

Colin Smith- EU COPPS - Traffic because it's the least contentious political issue between Israelis and Palestinians, But also, more people die on the roads in Israel and the Palestinian areas than through other means. It's one of the top causes of death in the world.
