Julian Bond, Chairman of the NAACP, is a giant in the movement for Black Civil Rights who has been on the front line for equal rights in America for four decades. He is also an outspoken advocate for the rights of America's gays and lesbians. Washington Post editorial writer and Pulitzer Prize winner, Jonathan Capehart, explores Bond's national leadership role in these major social issues of our day, recalling those who were formative in his growth as an activist.

  • @caramelhoney29 Thx for the feedback.

  • @shenadoa No I don't agree. If that were the case why not hate the Women's Rights Movement? I think African American's tend to be really prejudiced against members of the gay community. Our community seems to lack progression in this area for some reason. It is very ironic...

  • I have often wondered if homphobia in the black community was a vestage of slavery, the need of the black community to have some one or some group lower than them on the social scale? Anyone have any ideas?

I would've thought those once so perscuted would have more compassion.

  • Capehart and Bond are black geniuses. Not surprisingly, both have strong ties to Carleton College and the state of Minnesota.

  • American will never be what is supposed to be - till ALL have equality!

  • I agree!
