It was a day of disaster: Andy lifted off from Tokyo less than two hours before the deadly earthquake and tsunami there. Then, within an hour of arriving home, KayCee was driving the family north, to Norman, Oklahoma. Wildfires fanned by 50 mph winds were ravishing McClain County, and the competition venue was surrounded by fires. Threading the bus around roadblocks, past smoldering fields and still-blazing fence posts, we arrived in time to meet with the frazzled owners. A decision was made not to risk overnighting at the venue, despite a large open parking lot being available, and we raced north to a nearby KOA. The next day, the competition center was still standing, and the event kicked off as planned. Havana did her first-ever agility run, and displayed amazing exuberance. Mistakes she made ultimately led to disqualification; but, but sure had fun!!
