"Drop G Swing Studies" vol.1 CD available at http://jeanpaulbataille.bandcamp.com/

Let's get bluesy on the resolian.
This is the second Drop G Study, back in march 2006. The beginning of the story. Seems like I was discovering Blind Blake or Charley Patton (or the like) at the time...
I'm not sure but it seems the second part is similar to a jazz tune theme I heard when I was 12 or so. If you know that tune, please let me know. I don't remember the title, because most probably I never knew it to begin with.

  • Any intention to publish your studies?

  • @kirktorf I'm working on a package CD and tabs. Should be available this year.

Ah, also, there is another tune of mine (dG 350 Parlor Stomp) on my channel, with the Resolian.

When I recorded it I forgot to plug the microphone into the video, so this is the sound of a Resolian purely acoustic with the on board mic of a 200$ video cam, if that can be of any help...

  • Very nice playing. Have you modified your Resolian any from stock? Do you "enhance" your sound using electronic means? I suppose I'm trying to find out if your Resolian sounds typical as I'm considering purchasing one myself.

  • @kirktorf

    - I did swap the cone of this Resolian with a National Resophonic one

    - I *always* use some kind of amplification when recording my guitars. On the Resolian there is a magnetic National Lace pickup, going into (? probably) a Vox Pathfinder. So the sound you hear is the blend of the two sources.

What I like about the Resolian is the form factor. Very nice parlour body.

What I don't like is the flat fretboard, but I got used to.

The sound is what you do it with.

  • About time you posted some more tunes! :)

  • @rossandallie well, I'm a "bursting" kind of guy... 3 or 4 in row, then nothing during months, then another burst. I try to be more regular, but, there is something called life, you know. Family, job, things like that. I do play and compose new tunes any day, but doing YT and/or making CD's and tabs is an amount of work I sometimes cannot afford. Job is low these days, hence this new burst.

  • @batzic dG-350 sounds great and nice composition. I'd be interested in your publication when available. I checked your website, doesn't appear operational.

  • @batzic Sounds great. I agree, I prefer a radiused fretboard myself. I suppose if indeed it is perfectly flat as opposed to somewhat concave, one could grow accustomed to it. Thanks.

  • cd and tabs...count me in!
