St John's Head BASE Jump, Island of Hoy, Orkney

This was the first BASE jump off St John's Head by Simon Brentford and maybe the first UK slider-up cliff jump at 1125ft. Filmed and edited by Adam Bibby. Apologies for the dirt on the inside of the camera lens, unfortunate camera mal!

The stuff inside the lens i believe is a problem with compact cameras with zoom lenses. Inaccessible to clean and sadly miles from a camera servicing centre. Its still currently in there going to contact the manufacturer for advise. Check out my channel for more BASE jumping and Speedflying videos!

The slider is a piece of fabric that helps to slow down the opening of the parachute. For freefall delays of 4 seconds or more, you need one otherwise the parachute will open too quickly. For delays of less than 4 seconds, you can go slider down which means the parachute will open quicker. When the slider is used, it travels from the top of the lines near the actual wing, down the suspension lines to the harness and the jumper.
