Http://captivedaughters.org discusses where are the United States human sex trafficking routes? How do 12 year old children get caught up in human sex trafficking? Why can't we stop the traffickers?
I'm here, along with Captive Daughters, to help you be aware of the problem of sex trafficking that exists throughout the world. Today we are focusing on the United States. Yes, sex trafficking occurs right here in our country. Most Americans do not believe that trafficking happens in America. Mention "sex trafficking," and what comes to most people's minds, if anything, are images of young girls in Asian sex bars. The public's knowledge of trafficking often consists of media reports on women and girls trafficked abroad or brought into the U.S. for sexual exploitation, reinforcing the erroneous notion that trafficking does not really happen to us, or happen here. The average age of children trafficked into prostitution is 12-13 years old within the United States, often these victims are runaways who are lured into prostitution by sex traffickers which are also known as pimps. Trafficking victims are also brought into our country, and taken out of our country. The U.S. is a source, transit and destination country for women and children from around the world. Many trafficking victims are brought into the U.S. legally and illegally as entertainers, restaurant workers, domestics or migrant workers - employment opportunities that their own country cannot provide. We refer to this as External Trafficking into the U.S. Internal Trafficking refers to trafficking within the U.S. Sex trafficking in the US doesn't only happen to victims brought here from other countries, American citizens also fall prey to traffickers within the US. Since sex-trafficking is a silent crime that thrives on community ignorance, the public is generally unaware that North American children are being systematically moved by procurers along recognized trafficking circuits, sometimes called, "prostitution pipelines." The "Pacific Circuit" runs from Vancouver down the U.S. west coast, then west to Hawaii, and east to Las Vegas. Honolulu is very attractive to pimps marketing girls to sex tourists, as well as being an excellent transit point for funneling girls to the Far East. Another circuit goes down the U.S. west coast, hitting all the metropolitan cities and military bases, moving on to Las Vegas and the mid-west, and then running down the eastern seaboard.
