Peter Kowald was for me the epitome of double bass playing and improvisational music. I had the privilage and honor to see him live back in the late 70's, in solo settings, in duos with with Evan Parker, the great trio with Wadada Leo Smith and Guenter "baby Zommer and even with Globe Unit Orchestra. He was a beatiful human being and ahead of his times.

beautiful sound, lots of energy and soul in this improvisation!

He was the best, indeed. Joelle Leandre now carries the torch.
