Both loadouts are unbalanced. Go to my website and check out the series of articles "How to Have Fun Playing Far Cry 2". I go into detail in those articles on how to build a balanced weapon loadout.
Re: PKM vs. SAW... Strictly a personal preference. I don't like the firing animation on the SAW. It tends to produce a lot of smoke and flash which I find really obtrusive to the point where sometimes I can't even see the target. Also the handle sticks up too high.

I've always been curious, can you get a malaria attack when your swimming? I've always been paranoid when swimming long distances that I'll get an attack and I won't find shore in time to save myself.

I don't know. It's never happened to me. But I doubt it would be a problem because you have to go without taking your pills for about 2 or 3 minutes before you pass out.

Actually it did a little bit. That's one of those areas in Far Cry 2 where you can get a bit of lag. Same for entering Pala sometimes. Or approaching the east weapon shop in Act 2.
