"HR-676 is really the policy that will stop this nonsense debate that goes on in Congress all the time. Its just disgusting what goes on in the presidential campaign....with all the other candidates. They try to spin that they are for universal healthcare. But what they are really for is for the for-profit system to remain in control. So you can continue to pay premiums co-payments and deductibles, with the option of the for insurance companies not to cover you, and if you can't afford the premiums co-payments and deductibles, it's ok the government will subsidize you. Well whop-tee-do. Then you get more of your tax dollars going into the the for profit system, it doesn't put caps on that, it doesn't keep the expenses down, it raises it up, and again we start to bankrupt goverment. These are policies for people who don't want to see government working for people. I wan't to see a government that represents people."

  • You make it sound too innocent when you say "is there anything wrong with making money." You are not facing the fact that these insurance companies make *obscene amounts of* money, and the way they do this is by refusing coverage - and the person who is refused coverage can't get the money back they spent in premiums.

  • The only problem with her numbers is that she is pulling them out of her ass. According to Medicare total administrative costs for our health care system is 14%. The for profit part of health care is in health care, not in insurance which is already a hyper regulated industry whose rates must be approved by the insurance commissioners in most states.

  • How in the hell did Kucinich's four foot tall ass score this babe? I knew she was hot but god DAMN she's got a hot accent too?

  • Good going; Elizabeth, and Dennis. I am a Singer/songwriter activist for affordable healthcare. Many of my original songs voice the phrase "single-payer" Including my "Fireflies" parody:

I hope that folks come to believe, that single-payer comes quickly,

hard to believe so many folks think our care's so great,

while one bad illness away from bankruptcy

  • @OctopusDropkick , No it doesn't say it anywhere in the constitution. However..., IF you have any humanity, compassion or even just concern for your fellow humans, common sense will tell you that people shouldn't have to just die out in the streets because they can't find a job and can't get insurance?

  • I dont understand why the Democrats in Congress just dont pass a Single-Payer Healthcare system and get it over and done with.

What are they scared of?, do the Insurence Companies have by the balls?.

  • @shaicapone Because America is a dump.

  • No where in the constitution does it say the government isn't supposed to provide health care.

  • Yes, but some where in the constitution it says that some people are 3/5ths of a person - my point is, it wasn't perfect; it didn't see its self as complete; that is why there are amendments. We need amendments providing for equal healthcare and a top notch education. Why are these things foreign as JFK said; europe was going these things decades before him.
