NC SAVE$ ENERGY is an initiative by a growing number of organizations to create an independent (non-utility) energy efficiency program for North Carolina. It will keep savings on energy bills in the hands of residential customers, while serving those who can least afford rising energy costs.
NC SAVE$ ENERGY will help save money for working families by making their homes more energy efficient, lower energy bills, create thousands of green jobs, and reduce North Carolina's carbon emissions. NC SAVE$ ENERGY will be based on the experiences of six other states' cost-effective independent energy efficiency programs and provides a permanent source of funding for projects that match NC SAVE$ ENERGY's goals (unlike temporary ARRA funds).
We are proposing that NC SAVE$ ENERGY be administered by a non-profit organization that would be governed independently of energy provider interests. We are working to get NC SAVE$ ENERGY passed through the NC General Assembly this year.
