Luther Allison Interview after the show. At Memphis in May 1996 Part 9 of 10. At the W.C.Handy Awards on May 3,1996, Luther Allison swept the field with five Handy Awards on the night before this Concert. The James Solberg Band backed him up.{They are a killer band in their own right!} One of the most Handy's any Blues Artist has ever won in one night. One of the high points of Luther's blues legacy. Luther was struck down with brain cancer and died on August 12, 1997. He was born in Wedener, Arkansas in 1939. A big thanks to Dan the Man, Fergison for getting us permission from Luther to record this tape at Memphis in May 1996.{ Dan was a good friend to Luther and James Solberg, too.} Could not have done it without him. Recorded on Pro VHS in HQ, sound on a Shure 58 mike, by Mark Denny and John Sifford,of Woop'um Out There Productions.[ Or in the old days, Two Phat Boys Records.]
