Sir Bob Geldof is royalty when it comes to the benefit concert concept, and the whole world of rock has the utmost respect for him. He was perhaps the only man in the world that could reunite the most popular line-up of Pink Floyd, and get the group's masterminds David Gilmour and Roger Waters to share the same stage. Fans are now able to have Floyd in their living room as part of the Live 8 DVD which arrived in stores earlier this week, and features key Floyd performances. Geldof had an "in" as he was the star of the band's movie, "The Wall," and he still had many of their numbers on hand. He talks about the process of mending the Floyd fences to play for the Live 8 cause, which was to influence the...

  • Thank you, Bob...and thank you Dave and Roger for putting your differences aside and allowing those of us who never were able to see all of you perform together in our lives, and never thought we would, that chance at Live 8. It would be the last moment of all of you on stage we would ever see. Thank you very, very, much.

  • I find it ironic that the man who said he didn't want to star in the movie version of "The Wall" because he said "Pink Floyd is crap!", would be the one who would succeed in reuniting them.

  • @Craig496 it's also goes to show in both cases that with time, people are capable of changing their minds and views. As of 2011, Gilmour and Waters are good friends again.

  • @Cgrrp yeah Floyd are another level up on top of AC/DC, who themselves are still another level or two up from most of the rest of the worlds band.

  • So how much did the concert raise. In concience and money?

  • @inlovewithcacao u retarded bro?

  • @Cgrrp, AC/DC are my favourite band, so this will be a tad bias, but I think AC/DC are better. Then again, you can't exactly compare these two bands; they're just too different. Music is open to interpretation anyway. Except the crappy mainstream stuff.

  • @Cgrrp well... I prefer Pink Floyd, AC/DC sounds good as hell, but you can't compare those two bands becouse of the music difference, hard rock vs Pink Floyd (I don't know how to name that type of music)

  • @paradigm333i4 making the Pink personage on the film pink floyd the wall

  • Geldof used to hate pink floyd according to his first autobiography.

What made him change his mind?

  • this is upsetting to know that gilmore will probably never wanna work without rick wright.but i can understand that rick is his bro.but to play with waters again,i SERIOUSLY doubt it.i have read alot on the band, and it seems that roger is pretty much an egotistical musician, but a great one for sure!

  • well done for gettin all the gang back on stage geldof they are all fkn legends love there music and yours tae cheers
