Occultation of Mars by the moon 10. May 2008

Mars was occultated by the moon in bright Daylight on 10.5.2008. The video of the emersion of Mars was captured using a Celestron 8 inch Schmidt/Cassegrain Telescope and a Firewire Camera AVT Marlin F145B.

The sky is black and not blue on the video because I used a black and white camera. Also I adjusted brightness and contrast to make Mars better visible. The contrast of Mars and Moon against bright daylight is very low making this neccessary.

Looking at the occultation by eye through the telescope the sky indeed was blue and Mars could be seen as an little orange disk.



Der Planet Mars wurde am 10.5.2008 im hellen Tageslicht vom Mond bedeckt. Dieses Video wurde durch ein Celestron C/8 Schmidt/Cassegrain Teleskop mit einer Firewire Kamera aufgenommen.
