In real life the alter egos of the multi-talented orchestra leader Paul Weston and the lovely singer Jo Stafford, Jonathan & Darlene's innovative comedy act began as a party entertainment for friends but soon developed a successful career all of its own - even overshadowing the pair's original careers for a while.

To perform this badly on purpose, just underlines what a great singer Jo Stafford was .Not to mention her husband's ability as a pianist! The sort of thing Les Dawson got off pat! Great.. What a real HOOT! Thanks for this.

  • I've not heard this in many years! Stafford was REALLY one of the great female singers of all time and yes, to pull this off takes a virtuoso, believe it or not! THANK YOU for remembering this album--it's a classic.

  • I'm sorry, I'm rolling on the floor grabbing my sides after the first 8 seconds. That piano intro is superb.

  • Love, Love, Love! They were brilliant. I just did this song in my Spring show! This is so delightful. Thanks for posting it!

  • My high school choir director turned us on to the Edwardses around 1970 and they have been favorites ever since.

  • thank you! it 's so nice to have perfect itch, i mean pitch.

  • HOW did she manage to sing quarter-tones sharp is beyond me. I love this couple!!!!!

  • Brilliant? There has to be a better word. Have you heard them massacre "I Love Paris"?

You have to be sitting down. Thanks so much for this post.

  • I'm a music teacher and my daughter is a music major and we found this to be an absolute HOOT!

  • My father used to put the record in the middle of a stack of LP's and wait for people to start perking up their ears.

  • This was one of my parents' favorite party records back in the 1960s. My dad would always put this one the HiFi after announcing - with deadpan seriousness - that he had discovered a fantastic new singer-pianist duo and insisted that every hush up and listen. Different people at the party would "get it" at different times so some were snickering while others were wondering why they were.
