Part of the exhibition Sculpture in Motion at the Atlanta Botanical Garden running through October 2008 and curated by Brigitte Micmacker from Sculpturesite Gallery. Curator's commentary: "In Phillip's sculpture "Split Disk in Rectangle", the motion of the thin, lustrous aluminum shapes, suspended within the contrasting stainless steel linear armatures, is surprisingly unpredictable. It is both disconcerting and spellbinding to watch the top and bottom elements first move at different speeds, then in opposing directions, as the Garden's plantings are first subtly reflected on the bright red surfaces, then revealed fully through the "windows": negative spaces magically created by the disappearing discs."
