I don't "own" this one yet, maybe I'll put up a better version later. I was so surprised I came through the first theme okay that I just sat there for a couple of seconds in stunned silence.
Beautiful phrasing and tempo choice, Stan. Nice rendition. I agree with cebukid70 about the "Tempo Police" out there. One notorious self-proclaimed "expert" on YT has convinced himself that because the gladiolus flower has sharp leaves that this piece should be played "sharply"! LOL (and then proceeds to play it like a soulless machine). You did this wonderful piece justice, and you (and Rifkin of course) have inspired me to consider making Gladiolus next on my "must learn" list.
I like your playing of Joplin's works. This is the *perfect* tempo! I don't care what other "academics" and tempo police say...this rag is nicer when played slower. I know what you mean about "owning" a piece.. ...and I'm guilty of posting stuff "too soon" as well - although I'm taking my time with my next YouTube posting (Bethena).. Great job, though.. 5-stars...and I'm a subscriber now too. :-)
This is great, I love it... especially your use of the pedal. I always hated it and never really figured out how to use it properly so my songs are all too choppy.
I've seen quite a few videos of this song on here, but this is the first one I've found that plays it properly: slow. Pinapple Rag is supposed to be fast, not the Gladiolus Rag. So good job, aacwan!
lovely tempo. it just captures the piece brilliantly!!

I like a slow rag, but there were times when this one seemed about to grind to a complete halt.
