This is a testing procedure for a 3 wire, Hall Effect style speed sensor.

  • The question is how do you wire te sensor to the meter ? Do you in 12v to the sensor thanks

  • @zx636racer A 3 wire speed sensor does have it's own key switched power supply on one of the wires (the other two are ground and the signal output). In this test, the positive lead of our multimeter is connected to the signal output wire and the negative lead is grounded.

  • @zx636racer. You're testing the output of the sensor. It's the same as testing the voltage of anything else on your vehicle. The red lead to the sender output, the black to ground.
