On September 23, 2007 John Force survived a crash that could have taken his life. The Ford Racing Blue Box data collection device played a key role in preventing a tragedy. Similar to an airplane's flight recorder, the Blue Box was installed early in the season on all of the Force cars to sample data allowing Ford Racing engineers to design a stronger and safer chassis. As a result, John Force is still kicking asphalt today.

Ford has more five-star crash test ratings than any other brand/company in U.S. history.

  • "but the work done at Ford saved my life." i thought he said they started the program After the crash?? his such a bull shiter.

  • Ford Racing started the program after Eric Medlen's tragic accident. After installing the Blue Boxes, we were able to monitor and learn more about chassis stress. The improvements were implemented in 2008 which helped John Force survive his subsequent crash.

  • @SecularTechnology I have nothing against Fords, I just prefer GM products. The point that I was trying to make was that nothing on John Force's funny car comes off of Ford's Performance Parts website. Every nitro team is running engines and drivetrains that are completely designed and fabricated in house. AKA...a Toyota based funny car is not running a 500 ci big block with a factory supercharger out of a Tundra.

No, I said John Force holds the quickest times overall, (based on 2012 NHRA results) (I updated it)

Now don't play the roll of the guy who loves everything except Ford. You people seem to think that everyone routes for Ford, and only the small lone groups route for Toyota, Dodge or Chevy, Pontiac. Newsflash check youtube comments, Ford is taking all the heat. Look at a Muscle car show, great majority GM and Chrysler, Ford barely gets it's name in there.

So what you're saying is, Chevy, Dodge, Toyota, and Ford engine manufacturing and development departments have nothing to do with the motors they run on race day? Wouldn't it have been easier to say that you like the Mustang bodies that JFR runs on their funny cars and leave it at that?

  • Fords are the factest manufacturer in the world. John Force who used to race Chevrolet set the record time when he switched to Ford. It's a fraction of a second slower than the fastest Top Fuel, although top fuels aren't manufacturer based,.

  • amen to that!! back to my oldest memories john force was there drag racing is huge to my family and so is john

  • Eric Medlen died the day after I saw him race, day after GatorNationals.
