This video presents Nigel Campbell Pennick's artworks in the medium of glass-in-lead, usually known as stained glass. It includes small pieces, so-called 'lightcatchers', larger panels and windows, both abstract in design and depicting beings from European spiritual traditions. In some of his pieces, Nigel follows the English tradition of 'fragmentation', where small pieces of glass from older windows and other sources are used in new works. In this video, a medieval piece appears as well as a Victorian vine leaf from a London church destroyed in World War 2 and fragments from domestic windows. The vertical panels with triquetras and hearts signify the cosmic planetary spheres of old European cosmology, the colour sequence following the traditional planetary colours. All the pieces are original designs by Nigel, following the Arts and Crafts tradition of the artist-craftsman.
