I had a 1993 Corolla and a 1995 Celica and they never had any kind of ignition key warner. Must be really an extra thing for the u.s that they equip.

@RonTaboga The dinger? Mainly to warn you that you've either left your headlights on, or left your keys in the ignition.
They don't have them in cars where you are?

The Headlight warner is standard in most cars here in europe (Germany), but the ignition key warner must be something that is normal in the U.S. but it is absolutely unknown here.

@RonTaboga It's odd, I have a Volvo 850 now, which has the key warning, but it doesn't have the headlight warning, since the lights won't turn on when the ignition's off.
