http://www.macformat.co.uk Air Display is a new app for the iPad that lets you use the iPad's screen as an extended desktop for your Mac. (Windows support is coming, but it's Mac-only as we shot this.) Watch the video for a quick demo and our first impressions!
(Oh, and as the commenters below pointed out, we completely forgot to mention the fact that the iPad's touchscreen is active, so you can drag your Mac windows around on the iPad with your finger! It can be tricky to get the accuracy right for such small interface elements as, say, the close icon at the top left of a window, but it's not impossible.)

@skralogy They both have to be connected to the same wireless network.

@loloschool If you were working with photoshop or most other graphics design software then you can use all of your screen space for the actual image editing and have your brushes and layers and such on your iphone or ipad where you can just tap on it with your finger instead of moving your mouse over to it.

what is the point of this app? I can understand why one would want the ipad/iphone on a large monitor, but why would I want to put my 15"-27" mac on a tiny iphone?

Okay, so I just bought this app but have NO CLUE on how to set it up for PC. I followed the instructions on-screen but I connect to my device, and nothing happens.

what's the range of it, i mean how far apart can the Ipad (a wonderful device) be from the macbook?

@ergerq It works over your Wi-Fi network, so it depends on your router. Practically speaking, in most situations you could move it so far away that it would be utterly impossible to see anything on it!
