  • @lys84. Why "le blaireau"? At the beginning of his career his nickname was "la taupe" which, on account of his aggressive cycling style, led his team manager to declare "moi, j'ai une taupe qui pousse". He changed to "le blaireau" to avoid such unfortunate imagery.

  • What a man! This has to be the last man who could win climbs, win time-trials and even win sprints? We've seen no-one like this for quarter of a century. Merkx preceded him, like him capable of riding the peleton off his wheel on almost any terrain, yet has the world really changed that much that there are no super-athletes anymore?

What is the difference between now and then?

  • @fgermes 5+2+1=8 ....

Respect Bernard.

  • well that was just a bit crazy. what a monster! HERO!

  • After his fall (1 minute into the video), he still managed to win the stage despite the finish line being at La Bastille in Grenoble. That last climb has an elevation of approximately 300m at 17% in average, including a 100m portion at 22-24%.

Puis on l'a applique a Hinault.

  • Wow, I've been wanting to watch something like this for a while.. Would anyone be able to add English subtitles to it? That'd be so awesome!
