Having said that not all Covenanters were sell-outs to the Tory cause of Popery. The Whiggamore Raid seen a march on Edinburgh by supporters of the Kirk party of the Covenanters to take power from the Engagers whose army had recently been smashed by the English New Model Army at the Battle of Preston. This would later be shortened to Whig. A much prouder tradition than any filthy pre-jacobite like Montrose. Cromwell was the first great Briton. For that reason he is a true hero.

The winter of 1641 was the coldest in memory, but in Portadown it is remembered for something else. That year one of the worst atrocities in this island’s history took place, when about 100 men, women and children were stripped of their clothes, corralled overnight in a barn and then thrown over the town bridge to drown in the icy waters of the Bann. Was this yet another crime by the old enemy Cromwell? No, it was a massacre of Protestants by Irish-speaking natives.

where would we be without cromwell? probably still taking orders from inbred monarchs. Cromwell was the original revolutionary, he showed these monarchs that they were not divine or invincible. to me, Cromwell is a hero. what he did in Ireland was no worse then what other military commanders did at the time, across europe

Lets not forget that Mr.Cromwell gave us all the "gypo" in Ireland and Britain.Because of his actions in ireland,he displaced irish from there homes and they later became travellers.Now the modern Irish gypsie are a fucking plague on both countries......thank you very fucking much you wanker Cromwell and i hope u burn in hell u fucking cocker sucker.No differance between him and hitler if u ask me.......

Its rarely discussed, but the English Catholics suffered as much oppression as the Irish Catholics of the time. Public ritual beheading was the norm throughout the country & only two Catholic churches survived which were hidden in the forests. Oddly the Duke of Norfolk managed to survive and are the only English Catholic aristocrats today. Both Cromwell & the Monarchy were evil to the core.
