Game Genie was the reason I got Mew in Pokemon Red. I never did went to any of those special Pokemon events since none of them ever took place near where I live.

I assume Action Replay is something similar but for today's consoles. Game Genie was very popular back then. The AVGN needed it (the NES version) to beat the NES Ghostbusters game since that game is impossible without it.
