I too remember all the controversy surrounding this album. all the " straight up and down" jazz heads were down on it. They called it " commercial". What the fuck? Never heard this in a top 40 station...even though it's funky as a pot of neck bones. Miles was like Bruce Lee or vice versa. Fearlessly creative and not afraid to offend the establishment. Still sounds good today! Get it Miles! Do the damn thing!

Dave Liebman is a fucking beast woodwind player.

This album was not well-received by jazz purists, but (in the title of his album "Kind of Blue) SO WHAT! What makes this album unique and masterful is that it didn't relied on traditional rhythms and melodies. Miles was ahead of his time when he recorded this album! I consider this to be one of his BEST! To listen to this album (as well as his other albums in the 1970's), one has to forget everything they know about music in the tradional sense. This is creativity as its best!
