John Petrucci - Damage Control Solo

Having a quick blast of John Petrucci's "Damage Control" solo on my Ibanez Rg2027xvv. Bit of a toughie so some bits are rough but most of its there so im happy.

Feel free to approve/slaughter it all you want lol.

There are a few videos of me playing my 6's. Namely the "As I Am" solo vid and the "Scarred unison" video i made.

Nice! I'm going to give you a little constructive feedback. You nailed every note, technique and the sound of the performance was parallel in to the original recording. One thing you should carefully listen to is Petrucci's difficult phrasing. How he has stone like command of the lines, and his playing is metronomically perfect, yet loose to the beat. I think that listening in to how he plays with that tone is a good idea.

Yeh i wasn't fully comfortable with this solo when i recorded and i doubt i still am.

I get the impression that when it was recorded it was pretty much in the easy to effortless zone for petrucci which is rather hard to get to.

Well cool man, yeah well good for you for taking my thoughts as feedback, because its hard not to sound like a jerk haha. Honestly thats what every musician secretly hates, but its also what can push them to become better. Also, I watched your other videos and this is the most well played of them all, i think its your most recent too so thats good (correct me if im wrong).

dude you know you really deserve a million views more. I've been practising this damn solo 5mins a day for a MONTH now, i can play most parts but the fast decending part around 00:30 is making me nuts :D maybe i'm just playing it the wrong way. Anyway, cheers, you're a very good guitarplayer
