In December of 1987, the Green Bay and Western's "boat train" departs Green Bay, Wisconsin. The train is shown at the Broadway Tower interlocking plant. The train will continue on to Kewaunee, Wisconsin where the trains freight cars will be loaded onto a Lake Michigan car ferry. The car ferry will take the cars across the lake to lower Michigan. Note the lack of graffiti on the freight cars, unlike the trains of today.

Too bad I was only four months old when this video was shot, what a sight it must have been to see the Alco's in person. Museums really don't do justice.

Again... Priceless! What Michigan town did the ferry connect with?

WOW!!! Great footage from a bygone era. I shot a CN local coming off the swing bridge here in the fall of 2007. A lot fewer tracks and only one diamond since everything's been consolidated to come out of the ex-C&NW yard.

The people at Atlas O, MTH Electric Trains, and Weaver Models have to see this video to make the diesel locos and cars they have not yet produced.
