Culture in Cooktown! Free in the Park!

The stage and back drop is the Music Ship - a permanent percussive playground in the park. It was built in 2007 as part of the Queensland Music Festival on the shores of the Endeavour River.

Saturday1st August 2009 the QMF revisited the Musical Ship to perform a concert featuring a newly composed Laid In Earth musical perfomance by composer Damian Barbeler. Also featured were vocalist Sarah Blasko, Emma-Louise, Daniel Rojas and Kurrawong Ensemble with community singers from Hope Vale, Rossville and Cooktown.

The afternoon began with a percussion piece performed by school children on the Music Ship then popular Black Image Band performed followed by the Kurrawong Ensemble. Emma-Louise's medley of songs was followed by the sunset performance of the composition Laid In Earth with singer Sarah Blasco featured in this video.

Please excuse video quality as it was shot on a small camera with wind, crowd chatter, the threat of rain and I was a good distance away!
