Though I can't justify why people might do that, I could offer an opinion. If I was to guess, i'd say they could be uncomfortable with talking to friends/family or they might not have connections with people. And in all honesty, i think the world we live in today, the people seem to be so distant/disconnected with those around them that they are left feeling they have to ask outsiders. Possibility?
