PS3 is widely considered the black sheep of the series, yet it wasn't that bad... the other 3 were just that good that it pales in comparison. IV is my 2'nd favorite RPG of all time behind only FF7. II makes my top 10 list as well.

The mechanics of this game are almost identical to PS2 & PS4, but they just tried to make this more adult imho. It got panned because it @looked@ different. I still think this was one of the best RPG's on the Mega Drive / Genesis.

Besides, nothing will compare to when the main character gets knocked out and the rest of the team are ok, you leave the battle and the overworld music is all sad until you get him healed.

hands down ps2 is the best of the series, followed by 4. 4 just seemed too quick and easy for me. ps2 took me weeks upon weeks to complete the first time through. 3 was just a mess to me. ps2 had a storyline that wouldnt let you go. when i got it as a kid it came with the help book, and oh my god was it needed. playing this the first time through with no map layouts would be damn near impossible. yet i made it through part 4 without even opening the manual. ps2 is my all time fav game.

I am happy that they released Sega's Sonic Ultimate Collection...I get to play Phantasy Star III.

There aren't very many RPGs like this....its style screams SEGA....early SEGA...Like the commercial when the announcer would shout "SEGA!" lol.

I wish they would consider making a Phantasy Star V.

When I was a kid, this was the only RPG translated to my native language.(In this video it´s also in portuguese!) So I really fell in love with it. Wether it is a black sheep or not, It will always have a good place on my memories.
