First Bus Stuck in Snow~5Feb09.mp4

Hello all happy viewers. This really happened to me on Thursday 5 Feb 09. The bus I was in was unable to go further because it snowed so heavily on that day. I got out & filmed the driver doing his best to spread grit on the road so as we could keep going... wicked isn't?
Although it's called grit, what is used on the roads is actually rock salt, which lowers the freezing point of moisture on the road surface, so it stops ice forming and causes existing ice or snow to melt.

@1madaboutguitar I guess you don't live in the UK mate. The "First" is the name of the bus company my friend, nothing more. I suppose one can clearly see the markings on the bus itself, isn't it. Anyway I'm just glad to remove any misunderstandings. But I'm kind of worried you think I was delusional as George "Dubya" Bush when he gave his "Mission Accomplished" speech on the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln on the 1 May 2003...

driver in black car going uphill, y do people pull off in first gear on ice or snow and wheel spin and make it more slippery for others?? its common sense to pull off in the highest gear possible so you don't wheel spin. duh.

Take it from me this bus is not stuck, I know this as I'm a bus driver. What the driver has done here is stop the bus as he thinks the road ahead is too dangerous. You can see he has turned his wheel into the curb to stop the bus from sliding down the hill. Better stop the bus than risk one hell of an accident, or just say that so you can stop the bus and have a smoke break :D

@MistRVertexZ I know. What a shame for us living in the UK. Great Britain was the first to create tubes & the underground, yet Britain (not Great any more I supposed!) just comes to a grinding halt with only a few cm of snow. Pathetic! Spend billions in illegal war to invade & occupy foreign countries but cannot afford a few millions to buy much needed snow ploughs. This is one typical example of Disaster Capitalism!!!

we can drive trough 50cm snow without getting stuck.
