CRYPTIC STUDIOS LICENSES RIGHTS TO PRODUCE STAR TREK ONLINE

Los Gatos, Calif. -- Cryptic Studios™, a leading developer and publisher of massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs), announced today that it has secured the global rights to develop and publish Star Trek® Online, a massively multiplayer online game based on the legendary Star Trek franchise, from CBS Consumer Products.

@TheStarTreker Totally agree with you. When I heard Cryptic was behind STO I knew it was doomed but I tried to keep faith because of my <3 in ST. Cryptic loves to produce multiple MMO's throughout the years with no substance or support. Bioware would make this game God. At least we've got SWTOR coming out in a few :) Hopefully it won't leave out all the great stuff SWG did

Exactly. Cryptic's Star Trek Online isn't all that great or fun. It's okay. Perpetual's Star Trek Online would have kick ass. Bioware's Star Wars The Old Republic is my substitute for me. It would be great if Bioware would be interest doing a new MMORPG for Star Trek in the future when Cryptic's STO dies.

I personally want to try this game out, pity the new owners had to dumb it down so much but that's what happens when the old owners refuse to release the codes for the game. They had to start from scratch. I am thinking of getthing this though, it looks really fun and Star Trek fans would like the interaction in this game as mediocre as it's starting. Heck World of Warcraft wasn't all amazing when it first started out either and people loved it.
