Temperature has little to nothing to do with the lights color itself, although it does play a huge part in the existence of the atmosphere, and can be somewhat of a product to scattering effects. Shorter wavelengths of light will be absorbed by the much larger gaseous particles, whereas longer wavelengths will pass through like ghosts, we, the observers, will see what is absorbed. As the sun gets furthest away from the observer, the smaller wavelengths are scattered so much, you see red

Newton's laws were based on assumptions which observation of nature later proved incorrect. One cannot equate natural law with what we imagine it to be.
