"Bombay Duck" Director: Ezra Stone. Writers: Phil Sharp, Hugh Wedlock, Howard Snyder, Jesse Goldstein. One of Ciro's favorites. Joan feels inferior to the wife of Brad's colleague, another judge, so she decides to go to the Peabody Business College. She wants to surprise Brad so she agrees to a work/study program to pay the $200 tuition. Brad brings home a duck and asks Joan to prepare "Bombay Duck with Walnut Stuffing" that evening. She brings the duck to school to prep it. Watch what happens. Note: When Brad holds up the duck and Joan says "Brad, you said the secret word," she is referring to the 1950s game show "You Bet Your Life," hosted by Groucho Marx, in which a duck came down when you said the pre-determined word for the day, and you won a bonus prize. Also, look at the names on the blackboard. You'll see Wolfson, for PJ Wolfson, the producer, and Van Trees, for James Van Trees, director of photography, and Davis, for Miss Herself. At the end of class, Mr. Peabody gives Joan a work assignment: stuff and type 4,000 envelopes and mail before midnight. Joan attempts to do this before and during the meal and develops ingenious ways to facilitate matters. Some very funny bits in the kitchen. Joan stuffs the last envelope and sits down to eat dessert with her guests. They are missing a confession, a very important piece of paper to their case. "It was there when Joanie took the appetizer tray." All hell breaks loose in the kitchen! Features Emmalynn Davies, Jacques George, Paul Kiis, Margaret Wentworth, and Geraldine Carr as Mabel. Ms. Carr was killed in an automobile accident on September 21, 1954. This episode aired posthumously.
