@BlackIce3190 Lincoln was mixed with Melungeon and these people were classifieds as Negros. When Lincoln was running for president, people use to call him Abraham Africanus. They use to put out pictures of him dressed in 'African/Moorish' clothing. Check out a documentary called Hidden Colors it tells a lot about the history of the early Unites States. It is available on Amazon.

@BlackIce3190 I'll bite. Lincoln was a racist and he felt that "blacks" were inferior. Also, he didn't give a shit about them either, He was more concerned about the Union. There are quotes of Lincoln saying that the 'Whites' are far superior then "blacks'. I quote: "Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite ideas; its foundations are laid, its cornerstone rest upon, the great truth that the Negro is not equal to the White man..." @jeffgatesnc Interesting how you people all say the same thing but never tell the complete story. Those same 'Africans' who sold their people eventually become slaves themselves. Also, 'Whites' enslaved each other in America and Europe. Lastly, the Moors who were African men built Europe and had whites enslaved. There is not a group of people on this planet that doesn't have sellouts! Hell, there is slavery going on in Europe today in 2012!

This did not actually free the slaves; the 13th amendment abolished slavery in the US.

i am hispanic and all i can say in this slavery situation in america is that no matter how bad it was. no matter how much suffering happened back then. ever y single black and white in the usa would not be sharing a common goal if it wasnt thanks to this man that kept a nation together.. the goal is to kickthose mexicans back to mexico :D... welcome to the USA!!!

To all those who are arguing-GET THE HELL OVER IT. It's 200 years old. whether it was 5% or 500%, slaves are slaves and had to be freed. And if he had freed ALL slaves, including ones in the North, today you might need a passport to go from New York to Florida. To those who say "lying bastards"-SHUT UP.
