Question: I have an old Mac: Mac 10.4 and FCP 5. My sony camcorder is broken so I want to get a new camera. Can my computer and FCP 5 edit the DSLR files like FCP 6 ? I saved up to buy a T3i before I realized that in order to use the camera to shoot videos I might need to upgrade everything else... too bad I don't have the $ for that upgrade at the moment, so I thought I ask.
Also what's your opinion on the Sony NEX-VG10? Can FCP5 and MAC 10.4 handle footage from that camera?
Thank you

@patracompany so 720 is preferable to 1080 for editing together 720 and 1080?

@what310videos Sounds like a frame rate issue if it's playing back glitchy. Did you keep the 59.94 frame rate when you converted the h.264 to prores?
excellent video, leant a lot thank you.
one question, what happens if you compress your 720p footage to 1080p? (reverse of what you did in tutorial 1)

@bennygzor If you reverse the compression you'll be stretching your video therefore loosing quality. Your 720p video dimension are 1280 pixels wide by 720 pixels tall. If you compress it to 1080p you'll be stretching your pixel width to 1920 and the height to 1080. So your just stretching each pixel a little bit and it will lose a little quality.

The skipping footage in the tutorial is part of the screen capture software. Your footage will be smooth during playback.
