George Gange and Tomas Pan busking for Merlita's cause at the corner of Market and Embarcadero in SF

FilAm Vets Rondalla Members Celebrate the Spirit of the Holiday Season Busking for Merlita's successful operation and eventual full recovery.

George Gange and Tomas Pan, members of the FilAm Vets Rondalla braved the nippy afternoon in front of Vicky Calub's Subway restaurant at the corner of Market and Embarcadero streets in San Francisco to raise funds in order to help Mike and Gina Peck's Outreach Asia to defray the cost of a poor soul's surgical operation at the Philippines General Hospital in Manila. Her name is Merlita, a lady native of Leyte, Philippines who badly needs an operation and is being helped out throughout her medical ordeal by Outreach Asia and its Philippines' local affiliate- GEMS Heart - credible and worthy organizations directly helping improve the playing field for some of our marginalized kababayan in the Philippines. Mike Peck, is the President and founder of Outreach Asia, (a 501 C3 organization) based in Minnesota and was George Gange's former fellow US Navy Air Traffic Controller. Since being introduced to Outreach Asia last February 2008, in his own little ways, George had been supporting the organization through GEMS Heart. Fairly recently, he visited their headquarters, met some children beficiaries and donated several rondalla instruments for use at their Center in the hope of helping bolster the morale and self-esteem of the children they support living in a squatter area in Barangay Molino, Bacoor, Cavite. He'd also shared several copies of their CD, A Tribute to help raise some funds for their embraced causes.
