First episode of the 1938-39 CBS radio series, hosted by famous jazz commentator Gilbert Seldes. Seldes' introduction "There are exactly 243 pounds of Mr. Waller tonight; There are also ten fingers, which weigh nothing because they are composed of pure genius. Fats Waller." constitutes the greatest introduction I've ever heard.
Waller was becoming a big star - internationally - at this point. To some, he was the very exemplar of the Swing Era. Waller's famous lyricist Andy Razaf joins him on stage for a rare appearance.

Songs included -
"The Joint is Jumpin'" (Waller/Razaf)
"Summertime" (George and Ira Gershwin)
"Stompin' at the Savoy" (Benny Goodman, Edgar Sampson, Chick Webb)
