  • Any details on the recording? (Conductor & Orchestra?)

  • @JeannineAnne Yes... Czech Philarmonic Orchestra, conducted by Carlo Zecchi. A Parliament recording from 1960.

"Carlo Zecchi was born in 1904 in Rome. Studied piano and conducting at the Santa Cecilia Academy. A hand injury forced him to give up his career as concert pianist at the peak of his success. Since then, he stablished himself as one of Europe's leading conductors, specializing in the muisc of Berlioz, Schuman and Brahms."

  • This theme is part of Hector Berlioz's 5th movement - entitled a "Witches' Sabbath", NOT "Day of Wrath," or Judgement Day as another poster on another video mentioned when he uploaded it. Part of the song was featured in Julia Roberts', "Sleeping with the Enemy." It may have been in "The Shining" also.

  • @babsinva Indeed, portion of this track its used by Wendy Carlos in the music of THe Shinning.

  • Very lovely. And the bells... ¡frightening!

  • fantastico viva berlioz. com opio ou sem opio!!

  • @TheAmethystSkies Bernstein wrote a whole storyline for the symphony and called it the first piece of Psychedelic music. Afterall, Berlioz did take opium before his alleged dream.

  • @NeverAloneForever LMAO! Now I will ALWAYS notice that!!! xD

  • That sudden shift at 2:37 let's you know Berlioz was on drugs when he wrote it.

  • simply fabulous! Using this in a power point will be wonderful!

  • @OriginalBasaliskos Well all the composers idolized their predecessors....and Berlioz would fit that mold for Stravinsky and Moussorsky. :)

  • Love it, especially at 3:18.
