A free lesson from www.brightonguitarlessons.co.uk from our Developing Lead Guitar' course. In this lesson, tutor Dan Denning gives a lesson on the basics of the technique of 'bend vibrato'. You will learn how to make your blues bends 'sing' by adding vibrato to the top end of the bend. This is a very tricky technique to get right and takes a lot of patience and practice. Once you've got the basics, try the lick Dan teaches over the free backing track which you can find on the lesson page at our website.

  • I would have said that a trill on top of a bend wouldn't really be the same. The smallest trill that can be done is a semitone, so it wouldn't really be the same effect as vibrato, vibrato being made by very small changes in pitch. But doesn't stop you using it though. I'd never tried and just had a go and it makes for an interesting technique. Thanks.

  • Could this also be accomplished using a trill on the fret of the bend?
