This is a long vlog, but please watch if you can. I've very recently been diagnosed and I don't know a lot about the condition, but I know that it affects more obese women of childbearing age than it does healthier women.

  • Finally, on dailystrength, I am "riverand".

Sorry I removed a ton of comments below -my computer kept telling me they was an error posting and then when I refreshed the page they were all there! :P

Keep up the good work. Losing weight will help a bunch. I went to a nutritionalist, lost over 30lbs (a little over 2 stone) and it has helped. You are reminding me that I should get back in the pool!

    All the Best,

    Nicole Rivera :)

  • @mathbymsv Thank you so much for all the information, this is really helpful :) I knew about the foundation, but didn't know anything about the other two, so I'll be sure to check them out. It would be great to find out how other people cope with IH and their individual experiences. I'm so sorry that you have it too :( but thanks again for the information :)

  • For some reason the video was in black and white, at least here.

Sorry to hear about your eye condition. I'm glad you're getting it looked at by someone though. I hope you can get it treated such that you don't have any loss of vision. That part sounds scary. Congratulations on your weight loss and I wish you the best.

  • @weightlossfordudes Hey- yeah I put the video in B&W because the colour was awful. Thanks for the support :), I'm going to keep trying to get this weight off and have a healthy, happy lifestyle. I guess that's what we're all after :)

  • Well I think at times those head injuries have something to do with it especially the last one. My head struck the steps so hard that I remembering seeing everything as I was falling then a large dark patched obscured my eyes for several moments before it came back. It was horrific pain. I have days when my right eye distorts for a while and then it stops. The headaches I know they will come back I just hope they are always far in between. Hang in there and I know what you are going through.

  • I had a head injury where with the full body weight my head struck onto the sharp corner of concrete steps. This was about a year or so before my diagnosis. But I have also had another serious head injury in 1998. That injury was on a four wheel ATV where I was thrown head on into a barbed wire post and had a very deep laceration above my right eye. I have the other associated things that go along with the BIIH.

  • I was given a spinal tap within 2 days of diagnosing. I was put on a diuretic ( Acetazolamide ) and have to see an optineurologist. I have a papilledema in my right eye. After the spinal I felt a lot better especially since my entire face was very numb with a powerful headache. swelling of the optic nerve has lessened for now but is still protruding slightly. I get migraines it seems every 2 or 3 months and mostly in the right back of head, behind the right eye, and neck.

  • 1. The Intracranial Hypertension Research Foundation ~ ihrfoundation(dot)org ~ The only organization dedicated SOLELY to finding better treatments & possibly a cure for IH.

    2. DailyStrength has a Pseudotumor Cerebri Support Group. This was BY FAR the single most helpful place for me when I was 1st diagnosed. I finally found other who had the same experiences & could discuss ways to get through all of the nonsense.

    3. The IH Brain Pain Blogs ~ I am one of the contributing authors.
