On the day the DWU Exec met in February, the NDU were holding a stop work rally around the Aussie owned Bunnings stores to highlight the low pay and difficulty in bargaining with them.
So the exec went down during their lunch break to support them.

Music: Katchafire - Bounce (not a particularly union song... but it sounds good).

  • I have to agree, I have been with Bunnings (Vic) for 8 1/2 years. The pay is Well ABOVE award wage. I worked for KFC for 14 years prior to Bunnings. Bunnings certainly know how to treat and reward employees. KFC, a Global comany could most certainly take a few tips from Bunnings on how to treat team members! Bunnings is like all BIG Companies, they have their flaws and the bottom line is Profit! But I'm happy where I am!

  • Come on Woolworths! I want to work in Airconditioning. 5 years ago i would have stayed at bunnings even if woolies did have Ac. These days though the pressures on and the staff are just pushed and pushed.

  • Hey! I work at bunnings, have for 3 years :)

They aren't actually that bad, they give okay wages for most, and if you are qualified by certificate, you get monster pay!

    Choice! :)

  • LoL at your morbidly obese ballerina, legend, LOL. You obviously work or have worked at bunnings as well.

  • Bunnings thinks they have the best service, yet we all know that the best service costs a lot more than the peanuts theyre paying staff at the moment. The level of service i give customers reflects the pay rate i'm on, so thats why you'll probarbly find allot of staff talking in little groups together. I'm leaving too. The pay is poor considering they provide trade advice.

  • Mate, I dunno what store you worked at but consider yourself lucky! Sure they pay higher than the average award wage, but they could pay more. I worked at the Townsville store, and they always had budget cuts at christmas, tehrefore less staff on floor and less stock on shelves. How the fuck does amulti-BILLION dollar company have budget cuts at the most important time of year?!?!?! I now support my local business and work at M10 (locally owned franchise)

  • At least they stood up for what was right!!! Good on em! Fuck the management, they are all arrogant cunts, that is all Bunnings want to employ to run their stores!!! That's why its full of corporate greed and unhappy staff in many stores

  • Completely agree with you there mate. . . . Greed greed greed . . .

  • i USED to work with thiscompany, low wages are right.

    i had sense and left.

  • haha I agree with everything except the working conditions (come work at C/town and you will understand)
