Just bought the Half Dome 2 a few weeks ago. Looking forward to a summer bike camping tour. Seems like a great value. I doubt I will miss the Plus model's slight differences. I was on a tight budget and it was on sale. I heard a lot of good things from REI staff about the tent.

thanks for posting this. Just bought the tent and your set up was much easier to follow than the written instructions. Your video really made things easy and fast. Once I saw the video, I had the tent set up in 5 mins.

What did you think of the tents visibility inside of it at night? Say I wanted to lay down at night in it and look at the stars, is there a lot of the tent (nylon) getting in the way? Compared to the REI Quarter Dome T2's visibility, which tent do you think is better for star-gazing? Thank you!

I actually bought this tent at a REI garage sale, and it was a awesome buy!

what is the weight of this tent?

I dont get it. Supposedly REI "updated" this model. To me, this is a total downgrade and completely takes it off my list. Yes they increased headroom, but compared to the old one, they now have a smaller and lighter version (2P) and a bigger and heavier one (2P+). They added an extra pole, actually 2 since the old one was one connected set. They added 2 more zippers and made the doors more complex and harder to use. Plus they ditched the gear loft and window in the fly. Doesnt make sense.

I just bought this tent yesterday! Wasn't able to get it on sale (paid retail $200), but it's still a great bargain. How do you set up the guylines that are included with the tent?
The REI Half Dome Tent year of 2010 weighs 5.6 lbs with stakes, bag and guyout lines. The current price is $179 as of February 2011. The two part zipper is great because you can open it with one hand. - Mr. Tent
