From March 12th to 15th, Rome hosts the St. Paul’s Jubilee of University Students. One of its initiatives was an international forum of universities on the theme, “Gospel and culture for a new humanism”.Present at the inaugural ceremony were Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, Vatican Secretary State, Cardinal Zenon Grocholewski, Prefect of the Congregation for Catholic Education, Archbishop Gianfranco Ravasi, President of the Pontifical Council for Culture, and the Mayor of Rome, Gianni Alemano.Cardinal Zenon Grocholewski emphasized the close connection between St. Paul and the mission of universities:“The jubilee is closely connected to the work of university students, because Paul was a great evangelizer, a great teacher.”The jubilee is a great opportunity to get to know the Apostle of the Gentiles, said Archbishop Gianfranco Ravasi, President of the Pontifical Council for Culture.“It is a great occasion to get to know this important figure for Christian refection and theology, important because of his testimony, and because of the love of Christ that he testified throughout his life, which is the heart of Christian faith.”The final event of the jubilee will be the Eucharistic celebration presided by Cardinal Zenon Grocholewski, with the university students' profession of faith, on Sunday March 15th in the Basilica of St. Paul Outside-the-Walls.
