  • I think the character "Spock" marked a milestone in Western respect for orientals which was previously unheard of. All previous characters were the likes of Fu Manchu, Ming the merciless etc. I had some old comics from the 50's which were my uncle's and orientals were invariably cast as hordes of identical treacherous minions.

  • @markmansell: yeah...thats probably true. He certainly is my dads favorite character of all time, i would imagine. Probably why he was so excited to know i was going to Japan, and studying Japanese, etc.

  • @angeljenny55: Actually, a funny think is, my dad looks and acts a lot like Spock. And i grew up playing him in chess all the time. lol...
