《Londonderry Air》

Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summer's gone, and all the flowers are dying
'tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide

But come you back when summer's in the meadow
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow
'tis I'll be there in sunshine or in shadow
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so

And if you come, when all the flowers are dying
And I am dead, as dead I well may be
You'll come and find the place where I am lying
And kneel and say an "Ave" there for me

And I shall hear, tho' soft you tread above me
And all my dreams will warm and sweeter be
If you'll not fail to tell me that you love me
I simply sleep in peace until you come to me

  • if their all chinese woulndt this be called rondonderry air?

  • Pitch and clarity is excellent- and the pronunciations are very good- again- they don't pronounce their consonants at all- so it sounds like engrish at certain points- but I guess the same goes for us English speaking natives- ever heard a southern choir do Sho Jo Gi? lol

  • @Nonie46 True. However that was the original name for the city of London. In this case, the settlement was originally known as Dorie, named after the oak trees that grew there, but it was destroyed. However London was not a part of the original name. In 1613, the Protestants, the English and Scottish settlers who arrived during the Plantation period who lived in the city, chose to add London to the newly built city in honor of the donations that came from guilds from London

  • @Zokoke07 My history lesson teaches me that the name London originated from the Roman word "Londinium".

  • fantastic, posh, elegant, class - to the mark - the choir, the professional grey floor-length gowned pianist, the posh woman conductor - these are hallmarks of class!

  • Listen to James Galway play it:)

  • @seamusthesheep You got the Doire part right, however, the London part of Londonderry comes from the city's connection to London, England when the Protestants began to settle in the area. Never once in my time in Derry did I hear that London came from a Gaelic word. It was because the Protestant settlers back in the 1600s wanted to make the connection with England.

  • thats the name of the piece by chilcott

  • @ILOVEOFRAHAZA

they not named it londonderry air

it was Bob Chilcott so why do you argue here xD?
