Sunday, May 31, 2009, St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Enid, Oklahoma, celebrated the Feast of Pentecost with a Birthday Party at the 10:30 service. A number of special guests read the Scripture each in their native languages. Speakers were: Claire Moseley, French; Vicki Castillo, Spanish; Krissy Sovine, German; and Jelka Shearon, Slovenian. The reading was from Acts 2:1-11. The procession included incense and liturgical streamers, and the church was decorated with balloons the color of flames. Everyone was encouraged to wear red, orange or yellow to also depict an image of flames.

After the service, the entire parish and guests were invited to attend a Pentecost Picnic on the grounds east of the Church. The church provided grilled hamburgers and beverages. Others brought side dishes and deserts. A jump house, cotton candy, and yard games were on hand for all to enjoy.
