  • 0:33 She wears headgear that demands respect.

WML's good manners still amazes me. Here on the same program appear the two arch rival columnists -- Hopper the Hollywood News columnist and Kilgallen the Broadway News columnist. Dorothy ( 4:05 ) stands to greet her, all smiles. Nowadays the TV producers would book them hoping they would get into a live TV hair-pulling ratings-bustin' cat fight.

One of John Payne's last TV appearances before he suffered severe injuries in an auto wreck.

  • I think one of the reasons why I enjoy watching WML so much, aside from the witty panelists and the fun of seeing movie stars I only saw in movies talking with their own words, is the good manners.

It is sad to think that if we tried to be civilized, or cordial today, the majority of us would probably end up appearing cocky or ridiculous.

What's beautiful about what we see here is that it comes quite naturally for most of them....

  • Daly tipped them off at 1:59. He mistakenly said "freelance reporter" instead of performer as Arlene asked.
